Junior Certificate Schools Programme
Junior Certificate Schools Programme (JCSP) is a programme that runs parallel to the Junior Cycle/Certificate. It is based on the concept that all young people are capable of achieving real success in school. Students follow short term goals in the form of subject statements in class and initiatives are run throughout the year to support learning, focusing especially on literacy and numeracy.
Examples of the initiatives we have run in Greenhills Community College over the last year are:
- Book Fair Bus
- Make a Book
- Drop Everything and Read
- Newgrange Trip
- Book in the Bag/Reading Time
- Dublinia Trip
- Guest Chef
- Helix Theatre
- Bord Gais Theatre
- Causey Farm Trip
- Glendalough Trip
All these trips and initiatives are funded by JCSP therefore providing equal opportunity to all students to access these great initiatives.
We also celebrate students successes in JCSP especially in May of 3rd Year just before the students sit their Junior Cycle/Certificate Exams. All students and their parent/guardians are invited to a celebration of their achievements so far. Students receive an official Profile of Achievement, listing what they have accomplished in each subject. They also receive an individual reference written for them by one of their teachers detailing their skills and qualities. This celebration is a great chance to mark the students’ journey so far in Greenhills College, wish them well and give them a boost before their forthcoming exams.
JCSP is a great support to the Junior Cycle/Certificate programme.
