Pre-Level 5 Access course (Level 4)

This course provides a foundation for learners who wish to progress to a Level 5 award or higher. The course is suitable for Leaving Certificate Applied, Youthreach and Citywise students as a bridge to Level 5. It is also suited to those returning to education and/or employment who would like to upskill/reskill.

Duration: One year, part-time.

NFQ Level 4 award made by QQI 4M2010 General Learning. 

Career Options

Students may wish to continue to further studies at Level 5 in a variety of areas, including Business, Computing, Healthcare, Medical Secretary and Science. In addition to these courses, there are many other course areas to progress to at level 5.

Entry Requirements

  • Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied Programme, QQI Level 3 full major award or equivalent.
  • Work/life experience may be acceptable for mature students.
  • Students should be 16 years old or over at the start of the course.
  • Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject area and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
  • Competent written and spoken English language skills (CEFR A2 or higher).

I needed to do something for me. I was a woman in my late 30s when I started in Greenhills College. My kids were bigger, and I stayed at home with them for many years. I knew I needed to do a course to get myself back into employment. I heard about the college through a friend and when I rang about the course, they were so helpful.Studying again and learning new things was such a confidence booster.
